Tahitian Blanket

 This is one of my favorite sewing projects because it's such a simply satisfying one! My sister Jenny taught me how to make these Tahitian blankets and since then I have made many.They are great for the tropics because of their lightweight quality and easy maintainability. They would be ideal for the summertime months and a fresh addition to your home decor. I have made many different Tahitian Blankets. From aloha print, gingham, solids or any fun print makes a great gift for anyone.This particular blanket I recently made for a dear friend whom I will miss always. She knew every Hawaiian flower on the fabric. She was very wise and had a fantastic sense of humor.I am thankful for the opportunity to have known her.

Butterfly Dress

This has been such a busy month. With school wrapping up and attending some fun events...I haven't posted in so long. I do however have many projects under my wing and 

I am very excited that the summer break is here! 

I recently made a rather sweet butterfly dress for my daughter. 

It is a pillowcase dress made out of a soft buttery rayon and some yellow gingham. 

It is also lined in white. 

I decided I had wanted to try my hand at painting some free style butterflies on the dress.

I used a combination of acrylic paint mixed with fabric medium as well as fabric paint.

I hand sketched an outline of a butterfly and then just painted the details in freehand. 

I think it actually turned out quite pretty. 

I also rubbed some opal glitter into the design to give it that feminine touch.
